These overseas exhibitions have been officially postponed! The Canton Fair is proceeding as planned!

2020-03-03

At present, South Korea, Japan, Italy and other countries have "spread" and "broke out" one after another, the whole world has sounded the alarm of the virus. In terms of exhibitions, first domestic exhibitions in more than 100 industries such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Ningbo before June 2020 were cancelled or postponed and now international exhibitions in many countries have also been cancelled or postponed!

The spread of the epidemic and the resulting uncertainty have brought trouble to the exhibition organizers. Take the furniture industry international exhibition as an example. Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Furniture Fair (MIFF), originally scheduled for March 6 to 9, was postponed to June 30 to July 3, 2020. Kuala Lumpur Export Furniture Fair (EFE) was even postponed to the end of August. The Salone del Mobile, originally scheduled to be held from April 21 to 26, may also be affected by the epidemic. At a press conference on February 12, exhibition chairman Claudio Luti expressed concern about the possible negative impact of the virus on the number of visitors. In particular, Chinese tourists and exhibitors are likely to face a decrease. At the 2019 Milan Furniture Fair, about 30,000 Chinese will participate, becoming the largest group of foreign tourists.

The negative impact of the epidemic on the global manufacturing industry chain is gradually showing. China is closely linked to the world economy, and global trade is highly dependent on China. China is the second largest supplier of German furniture, with an import volume of nearly 2 billion euros, accounting for 15% of the total import volume of German furniture. In particular, soft furniture, chairs and consumer goods made in China account for a very high proportion in Sino-German trade. According to German media reports, German buyers, logistics personnel and supply chain personnel are taking a series of measures to reduce the negative impact of the epidemic. Riccardo Kurto, China representative of the German Federal Association for Materials Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME), said in an interview recently: "A number of affiliated companies have set up task forces to quickly remedy possible supply chain disruptions caused by the epidemic."
