Corrosion resistance and installation precautions of corundum tubes

Corundum tubes is a type of ceramic material with alumina (Al₂O₃) as its main component. Next, we will introduce the corrosion resistance and installation precautions of corundum tubes.

Corrosion resistance of corundum tubes

1. Under normal circumstances, corundum tubes can resist various corrosive media and exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, but they are not resistant to corrosion by acids with strong oxidizing properties.

2. At room temperature, corundum tubes are almost insoluble in organic solvents, but with aliphatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, acetone, ethyl acetate, and diethyl ether.

3. The higher the temperature, the weaker the corrosion resistance; however, when the temperature does not exceed 60°C, it remains stable in 40% nitric acid (HNO₃), 50% sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄), concentrated hydrochloric acid, as well as alkaline solutions and salt solutions of various concentrations.

Installation precautions for corundum tubes

1. When installing the corundum tubes, if a flexible pipeline is used, the two ends of the flexible pipeline inserted into the socket should be adjusted to be symmetrical.

Because its coefficient of expansion matching the pipeline is only about one-third that of steel; in other words, the expansion gap will be reduced by 3-5 mm. Besides this, when connecting the flanges, it is also necessary to ensure that the end face of the composite pipe is flush with the end face of the flange.

2. The alumina-lined industrial ceramic tube has an extremely long service life and possesses high hardness and toughness. However, it must be handled with care during transportation and installation; collisions are strictly prohibited, and special attention should be paid to preventing contact with metal tools.

3. When installing the corundum tubes, it is necessary to ensure that the center line of the corundum tubes is aligned with the center of the pipeline, and adjust the height to be level so as to ensure the accurate connection of the two end faces.

The misalignment at both ends should be controlled within 1.0 mm. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the flow direction of the conveying medium is consistent with the direction indicated by the arrow, and the longer end is the direction of the outlet.

Alumina ceramic tubes are formed using isostatic pressing technology, with regular dimensions, complete specifications, high purity, good density, good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, low wear, and no contamination by abrasives. The alumina content can be achieved in three types: 99%, 95%, and 92%.
